Skip the Day || Jesse and Nymeria

Jesse’s stomach dropped a bit when he heard “Oh” admittedly it wasn’t the reaction he’d hoped for. For a moment he’d felt slightly discouraged until she smiled and said yes. Jesse smiled. “Cool.” he nodded as she walked over to grab her bag. To him, the hard part was over, well; not really but it made him feel better. “So, swing by the diner in town and grab some breakfast or go by the mess hall?” he asked calmly. Either choice was fine for him, one just required more walking. “Either is fine.”

She pulled the door shut behind her and made sure to lock it before turning back to him. “How about the diner?” She asked as they started to walk down the corridor “I haven’t seen much of the town past driving through it and this guy in my chemistry class works there, he says the food is pretty decent” She added in way of explaining. The further away from her dorm and school books she got the more glad she became that she had made this decision. She’d only met a hand full of people since moving to Woodbay and she couldn’t deny the fact that Jesse was one of those she’d like to get to know more. This day could be the perfect opportunity to do both that and relax after all the catching up.

First Meeting || Nymeria & Jesse

"Egyptians too." he said as the orb vanished from his hand. "So, going by my theory, if we are demigods." he smiled. "Daughter of Poseidon, or Neptune; if you decide to go by his Roman persona." he said. "Oh yeah, definitely read them." he laughed a little. Jesse laughed at her joke. "I’d say so."

"Very true" She nodded "Well it’s a pretty impressive gift and one I’ve never heard of someone having before." She smiled and let out a small laugh "Yep, ruler of the seas and oceans." Again she gave a nod of her head "I will." She promised with another smile

"I’m afraid I don’t have much knowledge on the geography in England, but it does sound like a nice place to live. You get the opportunity to be more out in the nature than you’ll have in the city."

image

"It’s in the north, not many people have heard of it so you’re not alone." She said with a smile "This is true. When I’m at home I seem to spend more time outdoors than in"

Jesse closed his eyes and held out his hand, a small, red orb floated directly above his palm. “I can do more with it, but this is just a general demonstration. What can you do?” he asked. “And The Oregon Trail, it was used to migrate settlers to the western states. And I read those books, really good series, both parts.” he nodded. “Its possible that we’re demigods, maybe, its a good theory as to where we got out powers.”

She watched in amazement as the red orb appeared “I know the Greeks and Romans personified chaos but I never thought I’d see it as a actual thing” Her gaze flicked up to his face “I can control and manipulate water” She told him. “That’s what it was called.” She said, having been trying to remember it all morning. “Maybe I should give into my brothers requests and read them then” She smiled “Well if that’s the case a lot of parents have a lot of explaining to do” She joked

angelique-forbes:

"Je suis d’accord, so which part of England do you come from?"

image

"Cumbria, specifically the Lake District. So not a beautiful city in sight" She chuckled lightly "Just lots of hills and lakes"

"I need a break from class and I thought you might want one too." said Jesse with a smile. "So, I figure , if you want we take the day off, get some breakfast and hang out. Are tons of places from what I’ve seen around here, forest, diner, quad, etc" he said, a slight bit of hope in his voice. Jesse explained his reason he figured it may be a little better to ask But it wasn’t easy; his red and green eyes looking anywhere but her. Alright, he was a little nervous; but it was understandable. The last time he dated, it didn’t go well. But something about her, was different. Like Sienna, he felt like he could trust her.

Jesse took a small breath and looked her eyes, something he hadn’t done yet, and spoke. “So, will you join me?” he asked.

She stood with one hand still on the door, holding it open so it wouldn’t shut on them. As she stood there like that, listening to his reason for being here so early she couldn’t help the look of surprise which briefly crossed her features. Never in her life had she cut class let alone a whole day, and had only ever missed school on a handful of occasions. But then it had never crossed her mind to and even if it had the only way it would have been possible at her old school was if she’d pretended to be ill. If she’d done that though she would have at the schools Matron checking on her every five minuets. “Oh” Was all she could say at first when he asked her to join him.

She couldn’t deny the temptation was there. She enjoyed school and didn’t really have any reason to want to skip it but the idea of getting to spend the day with Jesse was definitely alluring. In a split second decision, before she could talk herself out of it she said “Yes, sure” A smile spreading across her lips, those simple words starting a bubble of excitement in her. “Let me just grab my bag” She said darting across the room to her desk where she quickly pulled the school books out of her bag and dumped the back on her shelf before heading back over to him and giving him a wide smile.

Jesse yawned as he got out of bed, he looked at the time on his alarm clock. “7:30 A.M.” It read. Jesse shrugged, he grabbed a graphic t-shirt, black with a skull on it and put on his red zip up hood jacket and grabbed a clean pair of jeans and tossed them on. He looked in the mirror and fixed his hair and yawned. Jesse really didn’t feel like going to class, there were only a few of then he really needed to go to help his powers. But so far he’d been here a week or so and for the most part he’d gone to class. Jesse shrugged and smiled a little. He could afford to miss another day.

Jesse put on his necklace and wondered what he could do. He thought about texting Sienna but he knew enough about her and her powers that she’d probably still be sleeping, or just getting to bed. Jesse then smiled, he could go see if Nymeria would skip with him. He didn’t really know her but he liked her, from what they talked about they shared a lot of the same interests, and something bout her…He didn’t know, but he liked it. “I liked hanging out with her yesterday…I probably should be this trusting after what happened but…to hell with it. I’ll ask.” he thought.

Jesse put in his headphones “Shatter Me” by Lzzy Hale and Lindsey Stirling playing through them and walked over to the directory and looked up her room. Jesse’s eyes scrolled down the list until he found her room number. He found her name under room 114 and headed over to the girls dorm and walked to her room and knocked.

Nymeria woke ,as she did almost every morning, at 6:30am. I wasn’t really born out of choice and more the result of years of early wake up calls at her previous school. Seeing as how the school routine here wasn’t so….rigid, she like to take the extra time this early rising gave her to go for a swim or spend longer in the shower. On this particular morning the shower had won out.  By the time 7:30 rolled around, the time she started to hear the murmur of life from the other rooms on her floor, She was fully ready for the day. Well almost ready anyway. She wore a simple dress, tied at the waist with a slim belt, a floral scarf, lightly patterned tights, a denim jacket and ankle boots.

If she was honest she still wasn’t used to wearing her own clothes for class, in fact the only thing familiar about the school was the fact that she lived at it. Everything else was taking some adjusting to. Even the lessons themselves. At first she’d had a lot to catch up on, the topics covered being so different to the ones she’d done but she was getting there thanks to all the extra studying she been doing. In fact she’d been doing more of that, studying, than anything else really and it felt like she hadn’t done anything fun in a long time. She made a mental note that soon she would change that. She’d actually got to grips with her school work quicker than she had thought, a fact she suspected was partly thanks to some of the help she’d gotten. A small smile worked it’s way onto her face as she thought of one of the individuals that had helped her.

As she stood at her desk packing her bag for another day of classes and wondering what would be available for breakfast there was a knock at the door. Thinking maybe it was just her room mate forgetting her key she walked over and pulled it open. However she wasn’t met with the sight she had been expecting “Hi” Her warm smile following a few seconds after the word thanks to the surprise of seeing him. “What are you doing here?” She asked curiously.

angelique-forbes:

"Unfortunately not, but it won’t stop surprising you though. Either that’s a good thing or not. It is even if it comes with it’s quirks though it’s very beautiful when it’s summer.”

image

"Well either way at least things will never be dull." She chuckled. "Those quirks are what make it though I think, like with any city"

"I didn’t know anyone." he said. "So was pretty weird when I found out that I could control chaos and project it like…well a projectile." he smiled. "And its no problem." he smiled. "So, what can I help you with?" he asked as he looked over and started to look over the questions and pages. "And of course they have the best, they all believed in numerous gods, deities, stories, things that had a higher power, and all of those had stories."

image

"You can control chaos?" She asked, looking a little stunned "How does that work?" She asked curiously. "I’m currently meant to be studying the journey the early settlers made to what is now California." She explained, lying the book flatter in her lap so  he could see it better. She nodded in agreement to what he said about them "My brother like to say that us mutants are like demi gods, he even calls this school camp half blood after those Percy Jackson books."
